Perceivable

Content visible and audible for everyone: contrast ≥ AA, image descriptions, legible typography.

Keyboard

Operable

Full keyboard operation, a visible focus indicator, a skip link, no navigation traps.

Clarity

Understandable

Plain language, consistent navigation, predictable behaviour, a declared page language.

Compatible

Robust

Correct, semantic code that works with screen readers and different browsers.

Method

What was tested, and how.

The audit combined two complementary approaches — an automated tool catching measurable violations, and a manual expert review covering what automation cannot see (keyboard operation, focus logic, the sense of descriptions, behaviour under reduced motion).

  • Automated audit: the axe-core 4.11 engine (Deque) with WCAG 2.0/2.1/2.2 rules at levels A and AA plus a set of best practices.
  • Manual review: keyboard-only navigation, verification of focus order and visibility, a reduced-motion test (prefers-reduced-motion), and checking zoom to 200%.
  • Contrast, numerically: every key colour pair calculated by hand — teal 7.06:1, glow 11.9:1, mist 11.0:1, accent 11.2:1 against the theme (all ≥ AA, most ≥ AAA).
Result

Issues found — and how they were fixed.

In the spirit of full transparency: the audit was not a formality. Below is what was found and corrected so the site reached full AA conformance.

  • Footer contrast — removed a block-level dimming (opacity) that pushed text and link contrast below 4.5:1. Now ≥ 4.5:1.
  • In-text links — added underlines so they are distinguishable from surroundings by more than colour (criterion 1.4.1).
  • Focus vs animation — content revealed by motion appears immediately when keyboard focus reaches it (2.4.7).
  • Header vs anchors — added scroll padding so the fixed header never hides the target after jumping to a section (2.4.11, WCAG 2.2).
  • Motion — the preview clock and animations fully stop under prefers-reduced-motion (2.2.2).
  • Privacy & independence — fonts moved to our own server; the site no longer calls external CDNs.
Compatibility

What it works with.

  • Keyboard: every element reachable and operable without a mouse; a visible focus indicator; a "Skip to content" link.
  • Screen readers: semantic HTML5, landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer), image descriptions, ARIA on interactive elements.
  • Zoom: readability preserved at 200% and beyond; zoom is not blocked.
  • Reduced motion: full respect for the system setting — animations and auto-updates are turned off.
  • Browsers: current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, on desktop and mobile.
Honestly

Known limitations and basis.

Note · limitation

The "sensor preview" panel on the home page contains illustrative animations and demonstration data. Animations are disabled under reduced motion, and the distinction between real and demonstration data does not rely on colour alone — it is accompanied by a written description in the legend.

This statement is a voluntary self-assessment. The site is a private initiative pursued for the public good, so it is not subject to the act on digital accessibility of public bodies — yet it deliberately adopts that quality standard (WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA, EN 301 549) so the site is accessible to everyone.

Statement prepared on: 3 July 2026. It will be updated on significant changes to the site and after further audits.
